Virovitica Fish Ponds

At just 7 km south of Virovitica are located Virovitica ponds – a series of 9 ponds which represent the largest and richest fishing waters in the Virovitica area. Ponds are rich in many species of freshwater fish such as catfish, pike, perch, carp, tench, bream, crucian carp and other, often capital examples of particular fish species. For the most part it is run by SRU “Ođenica” Virovitica, which provides the possibility of recreational fishing throughout the year. Supply of one-day and annual licenses is possible via info phone 099 693 7535 (g.Antun Kovacevic – coordinator of security services) or 099 681 7699 (g. Drago Horvat – president of SRU “Ođenica”). City Park

The City Park occupies a central place in Virovitica. It is the oldest part of the city, its narrowest center and the most representative part. As part of the Pejačević Castle renovation project, the appearance of the park has been restored in its original form, with new trees, shrubs and ornamental plants that have been planted. A promenade in the park has also been arranged, as well as a promenade in front of the nearby gymnasium “Petar Preradović” adorned with a new, modern fountain. There are wooden bridges in the park, each with designed according to its own story related to Virovitica (Bridge of Love, Bridge of Mirrors, Gymnasium Bridge, Portal Bridge, and as a special attraction the Music Bridge).

Educational trail Virovitička Bilogora

Educational trail is marked with 11 info-panels with educational information about flora and fauna in Virovitica ponds and Bilogora. The trail is heart-shaped and 4,3 km long, with benches and a gazebo, and the tour takes approximately 1,5 hours. For further information please check following links: photo of the track, GPS trace.

Little Park

Another city green oasis is the Little Park, which is a part of the project on the topic of honey and beekeeping: “Development of beekeeping through cross-border tourist routes – Bee2Be”. With its renewal, the city got another beautiful space for a rest and also an education.
